The Human Rights Council (UNHRC) is an intergovernmental body within the United Nations system.
UNHRC is responsible for strengthening the promotion and protection of human rights around the
globe and for addressing situations of human rights violations and making recommendations on
them. Euthanasia, or voluntary assisted suicide, has been a debate that cuts across complex and
dynamic aspects such as, legal, ethical, human rights, health, religious, economic, spiritual,
social and cultural aspects of the civilised society. At the core of this debate is how to
reconcile competing values: the desire of individuals to choose to die with dignity when
suffering, and the need to uphold the inherent right to life of every person. Laws regarding
euthanasia in various countries and territories. Efforts to change government policies on
euthanasia of humans in the 20th and 21st centuries have met with limited success in Western
countries. While the rights of euthanasia are still examined internationally, this topic has
become an important subject in the field of human rights.
At YBFLMUN'26, delegates are expected to collaborate in order to discuss the future rights of
euthanasia and the possible regulations in the International Law that will not only make the
human rights more inclusive but also respect the cultural and social aspects of all nations
involved.
